Ximena Natera is a Mexican documentary photographer based in the East Bay. She is the visual journalist at Berkeleyside, a hyper-local newsroom in Berkeley. Her work focuses on quiet moments in people's everyday lives. These photographs are part of a work-in-progress series called "Teens," about high schoolers experiencing and reacting to complicated social issues in the East Bay, like gun violence, life after lockdown, and the nationwide mental health crisis.
