Lena El-Gabalawy is a multi-media artist from the Bay and LA area. Through her art, Lena seeks to provide a reflection of her humanity and the world around her, offering an honest account of/tribute to the experiences she's had - from the people and places she's encountered and loved, to the communities and cities that have shaped her. This piece is a moment captured from Eid prayer in Oakland, which was held at the park - In Islam, it's believed that prayers are more spiritually beneficial if they are made in mass, a concept Lena finds endearing and beautiful. All profit from the proceeds of this piece will be donated to Lighthouse Mosque (the community pictured) and the several community service programs that they run in Oakland.
